A new name

John 1:42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter).

Cephas (Peter) means "rock". Peter was anything but a rock in the gospels, professing Christ and then disowning him before the crucifixion. But later Peter did become a steady, bold, and confident leader in the early church. Jesus named him not for what he was but for what, by God's grace, he would become.

It makes me wonder, does God have a new name for what I'll become in him?

For that is how He sees me -- not as this crazy work in progress, He sees the finished product.
